New Project Instructions

I'm currently working on a new album, and am hoping to be done in a few months. For the project that follows it I'm asking you to direct me a bit and decide what sound sources I use for each track. It may be an album or a series of EP's or maybe even a track a week for 6 months. It depends on the results and the input I get.

Please name at least 3 and no more than 7 objects, and one instrument source, from which you would like me to make a track. If you prefer there to be no 'traditional' instrumental sources than you can leave it out of the equation. The objects can be anything, as long as it exists in the physical world. For the current purpose a place can be an object if you would like, although the place has to either be general (i.e. a park, a building, etc) or be somewhere in the NYC area that I can get to without flying. The sound sources need to be things I can get my hands on without incurring a great cost. I can readily find someone who plays an existing instrument and ask them to record a few notes, but there are certain exotic objects or places I might not have access to. Please use your imagination, but please be reasonable.

Just to be completely clear, I will only use the sound sources that you list for the corresponding track - no more, no less.

Also, please specify how long the track should be, anything between 30 seconds and 7 minutes. I personally prefer shorter tracks (3 to 5 minutes) but I don't get to decide this time, so go with your instincts. I am, however, going to decide tempo.

There is no rush because I won't begin working on this for three or four months, but in the interest of structure, the deadline for your input is two months from now, October 3. Depending on the amount of responses I get I may have to choose which instructions to follow, but I will do so randomly if it comes to that, so my personal preference will be removed from that part of the process. I will of course let you know when/if I use your instructions and how the production is going, and needless to say you will receive a copy of any release that uses your direction as well as credit for your contribution to the project. Thank you in advance for taking part. I look forward to the limits and what can come out of them.

You can submit your list via the form below or in the discussion on the Anticipate Recordings facebook page.
